Saint Lucia Seafarer Documentation
Saint Lucia seafarer documentation is issued by the Saint Lucia Ship Registry to seafarers serving on, or joining, vessels under the Saint Lucia flag. Use the form on this page to tell us which document you need. A member of the Registry Office will reply with the correct forms, the checklist and the fees.
Documents issued
The Registry handles requests for the following seafarer documents:
- Certificate of Competency (CoC)
- Certificate of Endorsement (CoE) recognising a certificate issued by another administration
- Certificate of Proficiency (CoP)
- Seaman’s book and other seafarer identity documents
- Revalidation and renewal of existing documents
- Replacement of lost or damaged documents
- Verification of a certificate
Who can apply
Requests can come from the seafarer, from the shipowner or manager, or from a crewing agent acting for the seafarer. Officers and ratings can both apply. If you hold a certificate from another country and will serve on a Saint Lucia flagged vessel, you will normally need an endorsement.
What to prepare
Having these ready will shorten the process. Applicants are typically asked for:
- A valid passport
- Current national certificates and STCW training certificates
- A valid medical fitness certificate
- Records of sea service, such as discharge book entries or company letters
- A recent passport-style photograph
- For renewals and replacements, details of the document previously issued
The exact list depends on the document. The Saint Lucia seafarer document checklist sets out what is needed for each one.
